PRENATAL YOGA CLASSES AND POSTPARTUM SUPPORT SINCE 2005 - FIND YOUR COMMUNITY!
CHILDBIRTH EDUCATION CLASS - Offered by Liz Seaman, longtime educator whose teaching style is humble yet supportive and who is known for how she embraces each couple's unique history & personal perspective when teaching in the group setting. Couples leave her classes feeling knowledgeable, empowered and ready to face the birth experience by replacing fear of the unknown with curiosity. This class includes: A discussion of the physical & emotional stages of labor; working together as a team with your baby to get through the birth process as well as a full discussion of comfort measures & breathing techniques. Partners will learn how to support mom through the childbirth experience - not as coaches but as loving guides. Class also covers pain medication and medical interventions (c-sections), to be sure that Mom feels fully educated on all potential options. Throughout the class early postpartum recovery & infant behavior is also discussed, as they relate to bonding & feeding. This class is offered monthly (see class calendar) and runs from 9 am to 3 pm.
CLASS FEE: $175/COUPLE - payable in advance Contact us to register!
BREASTFEEDING BASICS FOR BEGINNERS - Liz Seaman, who has been counseling women regarding breastfeeding for over 17 years, offers this class on a monthly basis (see class calendar). Her history includes volunteering as a breastfeeding counselor with La Leche League for years before becoming an Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant 15 years ago. She has also worked with Dr Smillie's practice in Stratford and has led the Maternal Child Health Department at Bridgeport Hospital for over 10 years. This class begins with an in-depth discussion of the anatomy and physiology of the lactating breast. Mother and baby form a unique two-person organ system - not driven by clocks or schedules but by baby's instinctual behavior and mother's intuitive responses. Partners are encouraged to attend this class as well as the discussion includes the many benefits of mother's milk for the infant and the family. Common breastfeeding challenges will be covered and myths will be debunked. Class begins at 3 pm and ends at 5 pm.
CLASS FEE: $40/COUPLE - payable in advance. Contact us to register!
