Mother's Embrace Yoga

Specializing in Prenatal Yoga

ONLINE PREGNANCY YOGA TEACHER TRAINING DIPLOMA COURSE (FOR US & CANADIAN TEACHERS)

Personal note from Yoga Linda...

One of the greatest choices that I have made in my life was when I decided to become a Prenatal Yoga Teacher.  Working with women at such a special time in their lives is quite an honor and a lot of fun too.

Expecting a baby should be a happy time, however it can be filled with anxiety and fear if the expectant mom does not have the proper support and education.  Staying active and socializing with others who are pregnant makes a huge difference in keeping things on an even keel and leads to a positive childbirth experience.  Prenatal Yoga teachers bring information, education and much inspiration at a time when they are all very needed.

When I was looking for information on adding specialized prenatal yoga classes to my studio, I turned to Jane Mackarness to help me accomplish this goal.  Jane is located in the UK and has more than 25 years of experience working with moms-to-be.  Her online prenatal course was my first exposure on how to offer these classes in a safe, beneficial way.  She mentored me every step of the way and now, more than 5 years later, continues to make herself available as a resource and friend.  When she approached me about becoming the tutor for all US and Canadian students who sign up for her course, I could not have been more thrilled!

How can you take that step towards adding the joy of prenatal yoga to your repertoire?  Contact Linda at 203-925-9642.   The course is designed and created by Jane Mackarness in the UK.

This online course consists of 5 fully illustrated modules, each with a 4-question assignment.  The emphasis is on safe, appropriate asana practice, meditation, pranyama and relaxation.  Yoga helps to minimize the discomforts of pregnancy by improving circulation, reducing fluid retention and aches & pains, increasing energy levels and breath awareness.  It also strengthens the mind and body in preparation for labor.  A more gentle, reflective practice is recommended during pregnancy; it is the perfect time to tun the attention inwards, perhaps for the first time.

Pregnancy Yoga Class Observation and Teaching Practice

DVD teaching assessment is available for teachers enrolled in the course who are unable to attend a workshop or who feel that they would like feedback on their pre/postnatal classes at any time.

DVD observation and critique is a fantastic tool for highlighting and improving all aspects of teaching, from alignment to vocal instruction, as well as sequencing, timing and so on.  Constructive feedback from a teacher with years of experience is very helpful towards teaching success.

Video class assessment guidelines:

* DVD must show a class from start to finish with clear audio, using a stationery camera positioned to capture the student teaching and adjusting a minimum of 4 students.

*The DVD must be at least one hour long in order to accurately assess the following:

*Voice (projection, articulation, tonality, clarity), language (clarity when describing movements), ability to relate to students, pacing, sequencing and knowledge of material.

*Demonstration of several poses, including mirroring and pointing out detail to the students.  The DVD must show teacher actively assisting students during the class.

*Use of props, variations and modifications should be demonstrated where appropriate.

*Include composure or centering at the start of the class and savasana.

*Show key points of alignment and breath, demonstrating ability to reach and make safe, appropriate adjustments.

DVD TEACHING ASSESSMENT - $75 (not included in course cost)
